Quartz sand is the main raw material of the glass industry. With the continuous growth of the market for doors and windows, electronic display panels, photovoltaic panels and other flat glass products, the demand for quartz sand also shows a strong growth trend.

Quartz sand quality index requirements for glass industry

The quality requirements of quartz sand in the glass industry are mainly reflected in three aspects: chemical composition, particle size composition and stability. The quality requirements for quartz sand products in the glass industry are as follows:

The application of high temperature glass can often see the limitations of devitrification, high temperature deformation, etc. A small amount of alkali metal acts as a fluxing agent, which can accelerate the dissolution of the quartz container in the pure silicon metal melt, which plays a significant negative role. Metals also play a catalytic role in poor crystallization and have a large effect on the thermal stability of quartz products.

For some applications of quartz glass, such as CZ, it is required to have a relatively low consistency and good boron content . According to the correlation analysis of the source and different levels of boron, the boron content is directly related to the geology of the deposit, which is due to the entry of boron ions. The silicate framework structure produces strong chemical bonds rather than being contained in boron-containing minerals in isolation.

Monel Trivia

Monel was discovered by Robert Crooks Stanley who worked for the International Nickel Company in 1901. The new alloy was named in honor of the president of the company, Ambrose Monell.
