Donghua University announced on the 14th that the International Joint Laboratory for Advanced Fibers and Low-Dimensional Materials (hereinafter referred to as the "Joint Laboratory") made important research progress in the fields of fiber materials and devices. "The Challenges and Requirements of Energy Storage Fiber Electrodes" was published in the top international journal "Energy and Environmental Science" and was selected as the current cover.
Academia believes that the significance of this article is to clarify some key misunderstandings of fiber energy storage devices in time, and clearly point out the development direction of such devices from simple functionalization to true textile applications, which is expected to lead the cutting-edge research in this field.
Based on the research in the past two years, the article deeply discusses the scientific challenges and technical requirements facing the development of wearable energy storage fiber devices. From the perspective of fiber and textile engineering and technology, it proposes the corresponding challenges and requirements, and thinks about how Cross-fusion of existing traditional textile industry equipment and electronics industry equipment with new materials and new technologies.
It is worth mentioning that the co-first author of this article is Mike Tebyetekerwa (from Uganda, currently studying for a Ph.D. in Australia National University) at the School of Materials Science, Donghua University, and the 18th master student of Textile Institute, from Pakistan Ifra Marriam, Xu Zhen, a 17th undergraduate majoring in polymer materials and engineering from the School of Materials Science (now publicly assigned at the Queen Mary University of London, London, United Kingdom). Other authors include academicians of the Royal Academy of Engineering and foreign director of the Joint Laboratory One of them is Professor Seeram Ramakrishna of National University of Singapore, Professor RajanJose of Pahang University, Malaysia, Dr. Fatemeh Zabihi, a full-time Iranian full-time teacher in the Department of Polymer Science and Engineering, School of Materials Science, and Dr. Zhang Hui, a full-time teacher in the Department of Composite Materials. Associate Professor Yang Shengyuan and Professor Zhu Meifang of the Joint Laboratory are co-corresponding authors.
According to reports, the research results are based on the International Joint Laboratory for Advanced Fibers and Low-Dimensional Materials constructed by the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Donghua University and the State Key Laboratory of Fiber Materials Modification. The laboratory was approved for construction in October 2018 and belongs to The construction direction of the “Belt and Road†international joint laboratory has been actively connected to the international frontiers of science and technology and major national needs since its establishment. It has carried out long-term close cooperation with countries along the “Belt and Road†in the fields of technology transformation and talent training. The Joint Laboratory has established an international teaching and research team with the “Belt and Road†countries as its main body. Its members include teachers and international students from Iran, Uganda, Kenya, Pakistan and other countries. At the same time, it has worked with the National University of Singapore (NUS), Malaysian Pahang University (UMP) and other universities and colleges along the “Belt and Road†work closely together to promote the internationalization of the school ’s scientific research and help the school build a “double first-class†discipline.
The Energy & Environmental Science (Energy & EnvironmentalScience) journal is founded by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), ranking first among more than 400 journals in the field of energy and environmental sciences, and is recognized as the world ’s top journal in the field of energy and environmental sciences.
